Issue In Sligo
One of supporters on Facebook just made me aware of a potential issue in Sligo:
The Sligo Co. Co. is apparently planning on dredging the harbour in Sligo and dumping the dredged material out at sea just off Innishmurray. There are a couple of problems with this. The distance in which they plan to dump the dredged material is not far enough out which means it will come back to shore. Many of the old buildings in Sligo don’t have proper sewage filtration and the sewage flows straight into the river. There was also a tankard which went on fire in the river a couple of years back which had lots of oil, etc. which will be disturbed. This is not good as it will effect water surfers, wildlife, fishermen and any water user of the sea or land. The Co. Co. will either get permission in 6 weeks or the funding in 6 weeks.
If anyone knows more information, etc about this please get in touch!
